Tracking project budgets

Staying on budget is one of the biggest challenges in contracting. Here's how Hammr helps you keep costs under control.

Setting a Budget. When creating or editing a project, enter the total budget. This is the amount you quoted the client or the internal budget you've allocated for the job.

Tracking Actual Costs. Update the 'Actual Cost' field as expenses come in. Compare it to the budget to see if you're on track, over, or under.

The project overview displays budget vs. actual costs side by side, making it easy to spot projects that are trending over budget before it's too late.

Linking to Invoices. Your invoices are linked to projects, so you can see how much has been billed and paid relative to the total project cost.

Tip: Review project budgets weekly. Catching a budget overrun early gives you time to adjust — whether that means finding cost savings, negotiating with suppliers, or discussing a change order with the client.
